Yuletide stories received. wow.
Dec. 26th, 2014 11:34 pmDear Yuletide Author
Oct. 20th, 2014 02:38 pminto: Worldbuilding, settings, adventures, neat ideas, engagement with canon, complication of canon (including making antagonists sympathetic).
not-so-into: non-canon character death, noncon or dubcon, underage, incest
Extremely optional prompt #1: What are these two up to now after the fall of SHIELD?
Extremely optional prompt #2: What was it like for these two to adjust to their new jobs?
Celestial Matters - Richard Garfinkle
This is a world that's fascinatingly similar and different to ours. There's a lot going on, and it's brain-expanding to think about.
Extremely optional prompt #1: What's this world like in other places and/or times?
Extremely optional prompt #2: How did this world change after the events of the book?
#GoGetThoseGeckos | Foton-M4 Mission
This whole mission is a wonderful setup for a science fiction story. It's ridiculous and tragic at the same time. I'm fine with ridiculous crack on this one, or crossover, as long as the geckos (or fruit flies) get some agency.
Extremely optional prompt #1: a fix-it fic that saves the geckos in some way.
Extremely optional prompt #2: A tragic story that gives the geckos or flies some part in the story other than unknowing victims. Did they sabotage the satellite themselves for some reason?
This is the crazy one, but if you signed up for it, I believe you can do it. Any sort of narrative made out of the content of this song would just be awesome.

Jan. 1st, 2014 01:21 pm( One drabble, two at around 140 words, one ~1500, and one at almost 6000 )
None of this would have been possible without the help of my beta readers:

into: Worldbuilding, settings, adventures, neat ideas, engagement with canon, complication of canon (including making antagonists sympathetic).
not-so-into: non-canon character death, noncon or dubcon, underage, incest
- A Visit to William Blake's Inn - Nancy Willard
This book is so beautiful and I love the feel of it. It's neat to have a story that's a bit related to Blake's worldview.
Extremely optional prompt #1: Do these characters stay in touch with each other throughout their lives?
Extremely optional prompt #2: How did these characters find themselves going to William Blake's Inn? - Celestial Matters - Richard Garfinkle
This is a world that's fascinatingly similar and different to ours. There's a lot going on, and it's brain-expanding to think about.
Extremely optional prompt #1: What's this world like in other places and/or times?
Extremely optional prompt #2: How did this world change after the events of the book? - Fox Steals Cell Phone and Sends Text Message (November 2012 News Story)
I love the idea that we have this text that originated in some way from a non-human sender. It's very tempting to try to get some meaning out of it.
Extremely optional prompt #1: What was this event like from the fox's point of view?
Extremely optional prompt #2: Does the text have some sort of meaning? - Revolution 9
This is the crazy one, but if you signed up for it, I believe you can do it. Any sort of narrative made out of the content of this song would just be awesome.

Yuletide writing notes
Jan. 5th, 2013 01:47 pm( Talking to Strangers (The Master and Margarita) )
( Omne pro Nomine Magno (The Aeneid) )
About the Twitter robot romance "Love Doesn't Have Restrictions" I will just repeat what I said on Twitter:
If you ship @pentametron / @Stupidcounter, read my wonderful #yuletide present http://archiveofourown.org/works/591868 . If not, read it anyway and you will.
About "Inverter" I will say more: I wasn't the nominator for Chrononauts, but it seemed like a neat idea, so I requested it. I wasn't expecting an excellent six-thousand-word love story that's revealed from two different directions, with a structure that reminded me of Delany. It's a story that would be hard to write for any other fandom. If you like time travel stories, you should check it out.
Thank you to both of my Yuletide gifters!

Yellow Submarine Yuletide whoa
Dec. 26th, 2011 05:17 pmIf you have ever seen the movie "Yellow Submarine" then you need to go read the story I received for Yuletide, "(How Does It Feel To Be) One of the Beautiful People" at http://archiveofourown.org/works/299072 right now. It's a glimpse into the early history of Pepperland, including the motivations of the founders and the first defense against the Meanies. And it's also a sweet look at a character who both is and isn't an original character. So go read it!
