You know, I suddenly find myself so much less amused that I once encouraged you to force Mystery Hunters to read lyrics in Latin...this is harder than it looks, darnit.

I keep reading 3 as "Tu et Ego" from, um, there's no good Latin word for "Chess," is there.

And 6 is clearly the theme from "Sleepy Tiger, Hidden Tree of Life."

I think I'm going to need to get out my Latin dictionary. I'm missing an awful lot of open-class items here.

Chess was in the middle ages called schachi or ludus schachorum. Those who shun medieval words prefer to just call it latrunculi, a somewhat similar game played by the Romans.

I needed a dictionary to help with the Latin, but I did get nine of the ten. I've posted my rough translations in this post in my journal, if you'd like to try to solve these without having to pull out a Latin grammar book.

Aha!

I got set 1, #6!
The capitalization is indeed important, and it's "Waterside", not "Riverside". Also, the word order in [livejournal.com profile] tahnan's translation is not correct.
