1) Where do you go when you daydream?
Often, home. I'll think about being home with the Hobbit or the cats. Perhaps just as often, I'll zone off into entirely theoretical realms of number or idea.
In die somniens, saepe domum eo. Me domum cum uxore aut cum felibus somnio. Toties fortasse regna ex numeris aut cogitationibus facta somnio.

2) What did it feel like when you cut off your hair?
Light. I was suddenly free of all that weight. I also felt significantly more cool, in the social sense. And I laughed at the newness of it all.
Me leviter habui. Subito tanto a pondere liber fui. Quoque multo magis laute me esse sensi. Tantamque novitatem risi.

3) When did you first know that you loved the Hobbit?
Early, very early. Possibly when she called me to tell me she loved me while I was brushing my teeth. But most likely earlier than that. It's hard for me to believe there was a time when I knew her and didn't love her.
Non diu postquam eam cognovi. Forsitan scivi cum me arcessivit telephonice, dum me dentes tergebam, ut mihi se me amare dicat. Sed, nisi fallor, ante hoc colloquium erat. Difficulter me olim eam novisse nec amavisse credo.

4) You can dance if you want to. You can leave your friends behind.
'Cause your friends don't dance... But would you leave your friends
behind?
No, but I might go out onto the dance floor while they drink on the sidelines.
Non, sed fortasse super solum saltationis progrediar, dum amici in finibus bibunt.

5) (My new favorite question) What was your "road not taken?" How would you be different if you had taken it?
I have a bunch. One of them is my decision not to apply to Harvard Divinity School in 1995. I suspect I would have either dropped out of an M.Div. program or completed an M.T.S. and entered the work world later, without totally changing the course of my life. If I had felt called, on the other hand, to pastoral work, I could be a minister right now. Possibly in another part of the country or the world. That would be different. I might be happy, but I can't imagine that life. There's always a certain amount of pain in thinking about alternate pasts, because so much that now exists would be lost.
Multas habeo. Anno MCMXCV nolle petere admitti in Scholam Divinitatis Harvardiensem constitui.
